Wel­zow-Süd Sur­face Mine – South View­point

The “South” view­point is located south-east of the town of Wel­zow. From the small view­ing house a unique view of the active Wel­zow-Süd sur­face lig­nite mine can be enjoyed. Infor­ma­tion boards on the geol­ogy of the region, the tech­nol­ogy used in sur­face min­ing and other tourist attrac­tions in the town of Wel­zow are a source of addi­tional help­ful infor­ma­tion at the look­out point.

How to get there:
Drive through Proschim and Karls­feld. Fol­low the L522 straight ahead in an east­erly direc­tion. Look out for the access road to the view­point, which is clearly sign­posted. Park­ing is avail­able in the imme­di­ate vicin­ity.
